Pangbourne Business Networking Group
Next Meeting:
Since forming our Business Networking Group in February 2009 we have seen over 100 members join. We have met monthly at the Cross Keys in Pangbourne, on a Monday evening when the pub was normally closed, where ex-proprietor Tim very kindly made a charitable donation of wine for our members who in turn made donations to the Heart of Pangbourne.
The donations paid for the Pangbourne Community Christmas Late Night Shopping experience on Friday 11th December. The event sees the majority of independent shops staying open late for business with special offers, discounts and complimentary treats, offices in the centre of the village threw their doors open to offer mulled wine, mince pies and nibbles to customers old and new!
There is no funding in place for this event and so it was wonderful to be able to use the money raised from the business networking to pay for printing of leaflets to advertise the event, the Christmas tree along with new lights , this year sited at short notice at St James the Less, (many thanks to Dennis Jones and his small team for their help), not forgetting the delightful real live reindeer, elves and Father Christmas who greeted everyone outside Woodborough House, also glow sticks for the children in the procession from St James the Less to Woodborough House.
Members of the Rotary Club along with friends of the village acted as stewards for which we are very grateful. Thanks also go to Davis Tate for printing the large posters and Martin Maynard for the loan of 2 way radios. Volker Highways acting on behalf of West Berkshire Council are to be congratulated for their customer service and provision of metal barriers, so much nicer than the usual orange and white plastic ones - we appreciated their help very much.
We ran a community raffle on the night, which raised over £330 - prizes were donated by local independent traders along with many prizes from networking members too.
Go on – register now! There is NO JOINING FEE and a suggested donation of £5 per person per meeting.
We will meet bi-monthly in 2010 moving around the village to sample the hospitality of the different businesses - email us for details of the next meeting.
